    Default Greetings from Seattle

I'm about to embark on my SR adventure. Been thinking about trying it for awhile, started doing some research and found this place - what an amazing resource! I've been cramming my head with all kinds of information and learning as much as I can (good thing, too. I managed to take those crappy Kriegar razors off my Amazon wishlist before my wife bought me one for my birthday last week!). I found a barber in my neighborhood who does straight razor shaves, so tomorrow I'm going to go get my first SR shave. I've been eyeballing the classifieds section, and plan to buy my first razor pretty soon. I'm pretty excited. I feel like a kid again at 41!

    Welcome to SRP!

I lived in Seattle for ten years, and it is still my favorite city.
    Go Seahawks!

Fixed your quote for you Otto.

    Welcome to SRP cmcatee.
Where is this barber at? Are they in Seattle or Burien/White Center?

Definitely a good start not getting one of those Kriegar letter openers.

It's Razor's Edge Barber Shop (apoligies if I'm not supposed to plug businesses here...). Google had them listed as Normandy Park, but they moved 5 years ago and are actually in downtown Des Moines. It's a small shop, but very nice. I told the guy it was my first time, and that I was wanting to learn how to do it myself, and he was happy to talk with me about general technique and advice, although he actually uses one of the disposable blade straights. It was $20 for the shave. I'm glad I went, now I can't wait to get a razor and strop and start learning to do it myself!
