    Default Salutations!

Greetings from Georgia. I have been interested in straight razor shaving for years, but never gave it much thought until recently. Thankfully, in this day and age, I can research before I jump in head first. I haven't used a straight razor yet since I have no idea what I'm doing and don't have any supplies. That will change soon.

I look forward to learning what I can from the members of this site and maybe purchase some items that come recommended for beginners.

Welcome to SRP. My advice would be to take the great advice from the senior members and go SLOW. Read the WIKI and ask questions you will find this a very friendly place.

    Enjoy.

Welcome to SRP. Be diligent and do your research before jumping in. As for purchasing the needed gear to begin, I would recommend checking the classifieds here or check out the vendors like SRD to mention one, to get the basics of what you'll need to get started. The key to getting started is to make certain you get a "shave ready" razor. If you order something from SRD it will be shave ready, and most of the razors from the classifieds are shave ready. If you have not already, read the Wiki section for some great info.

Thanks for the advice. I have been pouring over the wiki and other posts here for information. I even watch mantic59's videos for some helpful tips. I have been looking at the member classifieds and will be making a purchase within the next month or so. Just as long as I can get something in the 6/8 range and under $60 or so. I look forward to sharing my experiences here.

    Hello, KingsRam:

    Welcome to Straight Razor Place.

So begins your methodical discovery of an art form that requires skill and that is sure to become a sweet obsession.

How many shavers in this modern world can say they can't wait for the next shave? Not many, including those who view shaving as a daily curse — and with their five-blade razors that even vibrate.

We're delighted to have you with us. If you have questions, please ask away and you shall have your answer in no time.

    Regards,
    Obie
