    Talking Enthusiastic Straight Shaver

So i just started using a straight about 3 months ago with about 25 shaves so far and am enjoying the process immensely. my technique has improved drastically and am trying my hand at cleaning up some older razors off the 'bay to find that go-to blade and as a personal hobby maybe to give some to friends if they want to try their hand. looking forward to not just lurking around, but asking some questions.

thanks for the welcome. i'll be sure to ask some questions as I progress. I just moved out of old town Alexandria not too long ago a couple of miles south to take "advantage" of "cheaper" home/land prices...

i am currently working on my honing and wondering why it takes so long for other to set a bevel. is it the grit level they use? i have access to a dmt c/f and a coticule right now and most of the blades seem to get sharp enough pretty quickly...

when it comes to honing, there are three things that you will need:

a 1000 grit, an 8000 grit and something in between.

    Welcome to the club.
If you are going to buy off eBay let me give you a hint.
Never bid more that $6.99, ever. Unless it is a new Filarmonica , then you can go as high as $16.99.

Ok, so I'm just kidding, but I need another competitive bidder like I need another razor.

Seriously though, welcome. I started shaving about the same time as you, but I started restoring some right from the get go. I have 10 in my rotation now, 2 were new.
