Thanked: 0Any straight razor aficionados in Denver?
Hello all...
I am new to the art of straight razor shaving. I would like to find someone in the Denver, CO area that could hone my new razor. I would also like to find someone that could act as a mentor and possibly show me the proper way to hone, strop and maintain my razor. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Cory

I've moved this thread to the "member introductions" section, because it seems more fitting and so it will get more hits.
Welcome to SRP, and I hope you find someone who can help you out. And now that I think of it, I think Travis (Logistics) is in that area.

Thanked: 0Thanks for all the input. I actually called the store "The art of shaving" and they said they don't hone razors and are currently looking for someone to recommend for that service. Still looking for someone to hone mynew razor in the Denver area.

Well, I could show you how to hone and strop if no one in Denver offers. I am no hone meister, but I do my own razors and have for years. If you want to come down to Colorado Springs (north side, by the Air Force Academy. About 45 minutes from Denver) for a couple hours on a weekend I would be will to spare some time to show you the dark side. we even have a store here where you could pick up some of your own hones to get you started... PM me and we can set something up. I could show you the ropes in about two hours. I have turned many fellows on to Str8ts...If you don't have the time, send me your razor and I will sharpen it for you (for free)....But I find that it isn't sharpening that kicks everyones but, it is stropping for some reason....And if that doesn't work, just call me and I will talk you through a honing and stropping session over the phone...And if that doesn't work, just send me your razor and buy a Mach 3.
Just kidding, PM me and I will send you my number, we can see if we can talk you through it first, and from there maybe we can do a link up if you need more help....

I am in the Centennial area if you are interested in learning the ropes. I am not a seasoned pro at honing but I can hone my own razors. In fact, I am starting to mentor a friend of mine with everything pre and post shave as he wants to try DE before jumping in with a straight.
I also have a n00b strop you can practice with here so if you nick it you won't feel guilty along with some decent training razors. It was my beginner strop that I nicked to kingdom come and figured it would come in handy for something like this.
Shoot me a PM and lets see if we can work something out. If we can't work anything out there are many great members in the CO area and I encourage you to meet them all, if you can. Many great people with many great ideas.Last edited by Logistics; 11-15-2010 at 02:10 PM.
