Just signed up with SRP so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly - Oh well - here goes anyway.

I recently bought a straight razor from a local pawn shop. It is a Wade & Butcher made in Sheffield England. It's in very good condition. It had some slight rust and pitting but was able to remove most of it. The blade edge is in excellent condition. It appears as though it was well taken care of over the years.

It defenitley needs some restoration work such a new hinge pin along with re centering the blade and a professional honing and polishing of the blade.

Since I am new to this whole scene, I don't feel that I am ready to take on a restoration task. So I am requesting any suggestions you guys may have as to who I can send this straight razor to for restoration.

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Bill and welcome to SRP.
You've made a wise choice, both on the razor and not trying to do much with it until you know more.
I would suggest that you have a look in the classifieds here to find a shave ready razor to start your journey with, and also to find someone fairly close to you who could tidy your pawn shop razor up.
While you are waiting, you might also like to read as much as you can in the WIKI and other posts on the relevant forums to give yourself a head start.
It would be a good idea to look at the googlemap to find someone close to you who would be willing to meet up and show you how to shave etc. (Don't forget to put yourself on the map too)
Read lots, ask questions, post photos and, most importantly, hang on and enjoy the ride.
