    Hello all,

Just got right into DE shaving recently and its surely turned out to be more than I expected. I do hope to be able to wield a straight razor successfully some day but in the mean time DE will do.

I started out with a Feather popular (cheapie) and promptly made some meat chunks come off my face. (So they really *are* serious about not putting pressure on it!) Then decided to try a classic with a Merkur 33C and that was better to learn on for me since its a bit more aggressive. Then it was on to a Gillette Super Speed from 1980 and an Ikon. This definitely seems like an infectious hobby. Even just this afternoon an old vintage GEM single edge arrived in my mailbox.

I then discovered the local AOS store in Boston and got some of their wonderous shave products. That helped! There just seems to be so many things to try!

Ok well I hope to learn much more in my time here, much thanks to the founder of this site. Love his youtube vids.

Welcome to SRP! There is a TON of information here, so read around and ask lots of questions!

If you're a cigar man, you'll find some good company here in that regard as well!

Thanks guys. I will surely be asking some questions. Seeing as I just discovered TOBS shaving cream that many talk about, I'd like to know more about whats best. While Im not a daily user/smoker of cigars, they are one of the finer things in life. (Along with a good shave of course)
