Default Hello from the Bay Area

    Hello all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself on these forums as I've been looking around a bit. I just started getting into straight razoring due to the cost of disposable razors, how much garbage it creates, and most importantly how much it irritates my face while shaving.

I've got my hands on a nice strop, badger hair brush, straight razor (which is not shave ready unfortunately, found this out after buying it), and all the other necessary shave equipment. I'm also a college student on a smaller budget so any budget savvy advice I'm all ears for.

    Hi Jason, welcome to SRP!

Get your razor shave ready before you use it. Check out the member services section of the classifieds for someone near you. I think there is someone in the sacramento area that hones.

After that, just read as much as you can in the wiki and be prepared to get sub par shaves for a little while. Once your technique starts to develop, you will be getting teh best shaves of your life, but until that time you need to train your body on how to hold and use a straight razor correctly.
