    Default super new

Ok so i'm really new to this straight razor shaving technique!!..... Sooo new all i have is a Dovo Shavette. So far soo good ive used it prob 9 time and have used the styptic stick twice I thought that was pretty good!.... I'm now lookin for a good straight razor to purchase the Dovo "Bismark" has caught my eye. It's based totally on looks and reviews I've read. I'm not really sure what got me started on wanting to shave this way but ever since I've started all the skin break outs i got from those 6 blade new school razors have gone away sooo I'm really likin that. Since I've never used anything other than the Shavette can anybody tell me if a regular straight razor is better or different than the Shavette?

Hi and welcome to SRP. I have not used a shavette, only a straight, so I can't tell you how they're different or better, but most members on this forum use straight razors over shavettes, so there must be some reason to it. As for investing in a real straight razor, the Dovo is a great first razor, but the thing that is the most important is to make sure you get a "shave ready" blade. This means it has been honed by hand by someone who knows what they are doing. Factory sharp and shave ready are 2 different things. Hope this helps and keep us posted on your progress.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Exclamation I'm new to Straight Razor Place and Straight Razor Shaving. Who can help me out ?

I'm new to all of this Straight Razor shaving stuff. I need alot of guidence and help to get me started and going on. I understand that learning how to shave with a Straight Razor isn't as easy as it seems or looks. I am very ready, and prepared to face my cosequences from my mistakes such as, cutting my face, nicking my face and extreme blood coming out. I also comprehend that (shaving with a Straight Razor takes time, learning, reading to learn how to shave, maturity, misakes, thinking, and lastly, the skill from the learning to aplly to the skill to make the skill of shaving happen.)

I need LOTS AND LOTS OF HELP !!!!!!!!! Who can help me out ?

I used the shavette for about a month for training of my hand before I buy a straight razor.
Finally I bought my Dovo Bismarck 6/8 black.

I was very surprised to see that the straight razor was far gentler to my face than the shavette. I thought it was the other way around, but it proved wrong.
I believe that you will enjoy much more the straight razor than the shavette.

My Dovo Bismarck straight razor was shave-ready by the factory. All I needed to do was to by a strop.
