    Default canvas strop

Is using the canvas side of the strop really necessary?
I've heard that you should start with the canvas and finish with the leather.
I've heard others say not to bother with the canvas.
is there any right and wrong here?

No there is no right or wrong
I feel that using canvas helps tho

Canvas also clean the blade (if its white it turns gray/black pretty fast) so the leather you finish with stays pretty much clean

I typically only use the canvas if I haven't used the razor in quite some time... have traveled with it or moved it around a lot since last use... or have just honed it. Reason being: just to be sure there aren't any micro-chips or wire-edge 'folding' present before taking it to the leather (e.g. so leather won't get scratched gouged).

A lot of folks paste their canvas and use it as an occassion edge refresher (I refresh on my coti / j-nats so that one too a moot point for my particular needs).
