Hello all, always kinda been fascinated with old ways of doing things and tools. Plus I have never been happy with other methods of shaving. Watched a number of youtube videos and then found this place after I had already ordered quite a few things from amazon. Currently using a st8 with replaceable blades but have just ordered a 5/8 Dovo and strop from SRD, lifetime honeing is just too good to pass up, even if I never learn to hone I know Lynn will keep my shaving comfortably. I did pick up an ebay find that needs restoration.

Even my mach 3 shaves better with the traditional soaps and brush.

Anyways looking forward to learning a lot and getting better. My first shave resulted in blood but every time has gotten better.

Welcome Shrew, from the other side of the Rockies! You'll see some signature lines here that claim blood makes nice lather.

I was also drawn to this because I like old technology. I've gotten into hones pretty badly, and now can't drive anywhere through all our crazy Colorado geology without keeping an eye on the roadcuts and wondering about the grit size of this sandstone or that shale, etc.

I understand that you can still get a straight shave in Denver. Have you ever done that?

    Good luck starting up.

Havent heard about any place in Denver, dont make it up there much anyways, I have heard there is a place Just outside of Peterson AFB that does it but havent tried it yet.

Already have my eye on a few other blades but need to slow down. Some of my other hobbies are vying for some of my money.

Need to decided what route I want to take with the restore as well, I will be sending it to a honemeister regardless but the rest I might try myself, its just rust, scales are in good shape so I question if it needs to be taken apart. Still might send it to someone though for a resto.
