Hello all! Just started using DE Safety Razor's this year. Started off with a Merkur, and just recently purchased a Goodfella DE. Main reason's for getting interested in DE's was the cost of replacement cartridges for the fusion. The other reason, I figured it would be a challenge to learn, and it looks cool sitting in my bathroom. Interested to see what I can p/u on, this looks like the place to do it. Eventually I plan to purchase a straight razor, but little steps first.....

Welcome to SRP. The DE is a good preliminary to straight razors if you are lathering with a shaving brush and puck of soap or a tub of cream. You'll get a head start on the preparation and work on mapping your beard, skin stretching and multiple pass no pressure shaving. In the meanwhile check out the beginner's guide in the SRP Wiki here for some good tips for the straight when you do pick one up.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
