    Default Newly Minted Wet Shaver

    Greetings,

My name is Joshua and I am a new convert to the world of straight razor shaving. I am currently deployed and a co-worker of mine converted me to wet shaving. I have not even shaved with one yet but I have already bought four razors off of eBay. I bought a J.A. Henckels 415, a Joseph Rodger & Sons, A Wald-Solingen, and a H Boker with ornate scales and a sculpted spine.

I am exited to get home to start shaving.

Please please please send them off to be honed by someone who is experienced in such things. This includes most sharpening shops (sharpening razors is quite different than knifes).

If you look in the member services section of the classifieds, you will find someone near you (depending on where you are deployed to).

Having a shave ready razor is one of the most important things a begginer can do for himself. Starting with less than shave ready is just asking for a face that looks like hamburger.

+1 to this! Especially being vintage and bought on ebay, those razors are very most likely no where near shave ready. You want your first experience to be as pleasurable as possible and a shave ready razor will help your learning curve Oh ya...and welcome to SRP!!
