Howdy guys and gals ( I assume since there is a section for the fairer sex). I am just starting to research the whole idea of shaving with a straight razor after many years of on again off again contemplation. To my surprise there is a TON of information on the web (not sure why it surprises me, but i digress). Still in the "research" mode of this, but i think I am going to start it up in the near future. I am a Kojak with a goatee so I assume my learning curve will be a little long but I am hard headed enough to stick with it. Have had a total of 3 SR shaves in my life and thoroughly enjoyed all of them so here goes...

First of all, welcome! Second, there is as you said, tons of information on the forum's wiki. If I were to recommend a "first" shaving product, it would be Lynn's introductory/instructional cd here: World Of Straight Razor DVD - Straight Razor Place Classifieds

Once you have your feet wet and feel like you have absorbed enough, jump in with both feet and get wet. Stay off ebay for a while when it comes to razors...check out the classified's for a good shave ready razor or Straight Razor Designs. Get a shave ready razor, good shave soap, brush, and strop...then have at it! There are quite a few head shavers here as well...
