Howdy guys and gals ( I assume since there is a section for the fairer sex). I am just starting to research the whole idea of shaving with a straight razor after many years of on again off again contemplation. To my surprise there is a TON of information on the web (not sure why it surprises me, but i digress). Still in the "research" mode of this, but i think I am going to start it up in the near future. I am a Kojak with a goatee so I assume my learning curve will be a little long but I am hard headed enough to stick with it. Have had a total of 3 SR shaves in my life and thoroughly enjoyed all of them so here goes...

Thanked: 1936First of all, welcome! Second, there is as you said, tons of information on the forum's wiki. If I were to recommend a "first" shaving product, it would be Lynn's introductory/instructional cd here: World Of Straight Razor DVD - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
Once you have your feet wet and feel like you have absorbed enough, jump in with both feet and get wet. Stay off ebay for a while when it comes to razors...check out the classified's for a good shave ready razor or Straight Razor Designs. Get a shave ready razor, good shave soap, brush, and strop...then have at it! There are quite a few head shavers here as well...
