    Default New Member!

So I jumped the gun and posted something else before this introduction (I hope i don't get kicked out...) So, I figured I would let you guys in on my attraction to the SR world.

My grandpa is the manliest man I know. He could beat all of you up, at the same time, with both arms tied behind his back. Seriously. He served in Korea (at 17 - he lied about his age so he could serve,) Nam, and even re-enlisted during Desert Storm. He is pretty much my hero. He has been shaving with the razor his dad gave him as a gift when he got home from Korea in 53 - thats 57 years of shaving with the same razor! Now, he has a couple of others, and he has some Mach 3s that he uses occasionally, but I have seen his grey SR in his room for as long as I can remember.

So, since I am going through my quarter-life crisis, I figure I should model myself after the definition of manliness. And if he uses a SR, then I will too! Also, I feel like I am wasting my expensive shave soap every time I use it with a Gillette...

Your Grandfather sounds like a great person to model yourself after and I can see why he is your hero.

Excellent choice on deciding to use a straight razor. I think you will find an enormous amount of information on SRP and a healthy willingness from the members to answer any and all of your questions, even if they have been asked previously.

    Good luck!

Welcome , and great move in following grandpa's foot steps. Just go slow and read all you can here. It's helped me a lot. Starting wet shaving for me has really taught me more then how to shave but how to soak a little bit of this life up we live and how other's lived before us.

Oh ya..well my Dad could beat up your Dad..lol..just kidding Welcome to SRP! It's great to have a model of manliness to follow like that. And it's a great feeling to carry on the nostalgia and heritage.

    Default Great Move, ZT!

'Hard to say how respectable such a model guy is. In the last few decades, we seem to put down our heroes like it's cool. I think that's a grave error. He sounds like a man any of us would be better for having known. Those guys can help us figure out what counts and what's just glitter and glue. As one guy put it (C.S. Lewis) 'We denigrate our heroes and are surprised to find traitors in our midst'.

What ever part str8 shaving plays for you, I hope you enjoy it. The guys here have helped me immeasurably. I'm sure you'll find it likewise. 'Grats on your decisions. They both seem like good ones.
