Greetings all.
Apologies for the late introduction, I’ve been lurking here for several months, great site, great info.
My name is Jim. At 53 I only just started shaving regularly 9 years ago (new job requires a respirator) always had a full beard before that.
I picked up a couple of New York made razors off e-bay, the one I like says “the razor that fits your face” across the blade, cant read the manufactures stamp on the tang. It took me a couple of tries to get the blade sharp enough to shave with. Fortunately I have the stones on hand, just had to buy a strop. Still it was a trial and error process. It took me about two weeks before I could shave me whole face, and now after a month I have succeeded in shaving with out cutting myself. I am by no means proficient, and will cut myself many more times, but I like the feeling of having a small piece of independence.

Aside from all the reasons people from this site are already familiar with one of the appealing things of straight razor shaving to me is that it takes a teaspoon of brains to do it, so many things today are reduced to the lowest common denominator, all skill or technique being virtually removed.

I was thrilled last weekend when another ct razor collector was selling part of there collection on e-bay. I was able to pick up two very nice locally made razors, one a Holley made in the neighboring town of Lakeville and one Northfield made two towns to the south.
All the best, jim
