Thanked: 0Hello from Chicago
Hello All,
I've been browsing this site for a week or so and finally decided to join. I have never shaved with a straight razor but am dedicated to researching and purchasing my first kit. I'm looking to get something basic and relatively inexpensive - nothing fancy.
I'm located in Chicago. Does anyone know of somewhere good to buy in Chicago? Or should I try to purchase online? Any recommendation on where or what to buy would be appreciated!

Thanked: 1263Welcome aboard, glad you decided to join. The best info I can give you is when deciding on your first razor is make sure that it comes "shave ready". Having a properly honned razor will give you a better start and at least eliminate the question of is this razor sharp enough. Best of luck

Hello from Chicago
Hello, leetj:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
Truefitt & Hill, one of the great British shave product brands, has a shop in the Bloomingdale Mall on Michigan Ave. It's a great place. Everything Truefitt & Hill offers is topnotch. I know they sell straight razors, too, although I think their blades have only a factory edge. Most gentlemen here prefer to have the factory edge honed further by a professional.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 0Thanks for the quick responses, Obie. I'll probably buy new from one of those locations and find someone in Member Services to hone for me.
Thanks again!
