Well, this is it. I'm definitely hooked on the straight razor. I found this site a week ago. there are so many beautiful blades, and no where near enough time. I wish my beard grew faster so I could shave more. This comment, coming from a guy who used to spend $2 on a bag of 10 plastics, used to HATE shaving. I found an electric that works in the shower and used it for a bunch of years. Though it was better, I still didn't like it much. The honing came natural to me and I just ordered a Shapton 16k glass stone. Can't wait to go from 8k to 16k. What kind of a difference can I expect?
Thank you all for the great posts of information!! without you guys I'd be all bloody in the face. Probably bloody in the nose, neck and ear too.
After so many years of cheap plastic, I'm still working on the "weight of the razor" shave. Perhaps I should have bought a 50 pound blade.
While it wasn't visible, I could swear my first straight shave put a curve to the blade resembling the Joker's shoes.
Also, I'm going to start some research on scale modifications. I would like to ditch the basic plastic handle, but went with that for the lower price. I didn't know how much, or even if I would like shaving with just a long straight piece of metal.

If you have any experience with scales, let me know.
    I found this awesome page:
    Bill's Straight Razor Info
(if you are the author, say hello, I'd be honored)

Is there a way to measure the flex of the blade?

Tell me what soaps you use, and how we can get lather to rival that of whipped cream.

    brushes - soaps - creams - mirrors - oils - stones - blades - strops - mugs - travel bags/cases - what am i missing?
    so much paraphernalia to explore.

Tell me your favorites! I'm open to suggestions.

If you are in/near Washington DC we are neighbors. Drop a PM if you want to sell me your crap. It would be nice to meet other shaving purists. Even if I don't want to buy your crap I may have crap for you.
(crap = paraphernalia, but I'm sure you already knew that)
my collection is small in the beginning, but I can see it growing quickly.
