    Default New to the neighborhood!

    Good (early) Morning!
My name is Randy, and I'm a shave-a-holic. At 16 years old, I started growing facial hair - later, it proved to be an issue in my military service. But now, at 28, I finally did it - I became a card carrying member of the man-society.

My weapon of choice was a Christmas gift this year, a Dovo Bismarck with (what some would consider) attractive gold leafwork. My grandfather was a barber, and was able to show me (with exceedingly quick pace for a man who hasn't touched a blade in 20 years) how to strop properly.

I'm on my 14th shave, and so far - only one slightly hemorrhaging WHOOPS to speak of. I love it, I've found myself stropping kitchen knives so as not to over strop my razor, but it's just so damned relaxing and enjoyable.

Going through this forum has been a godsend, it's made me feel like I'm not a shaving sociopath, that I'm not some backwards turn of the century he-man; but rather - part of an eclectic and sometimes eccentric community.

If you'll have me, I'll be a member for life.

Shave steady, shave smooth, but most of all, enjoy shaving.

    -Randy

Welcome aboard. You're lucky to have your grandfather teach you one of the most important things in razordom
“The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.”
