Geez, for a second there I thought I wound up in a virtual 12 step program for guys with RAD!

Actually, Flyman... you got the joke! I've never been through that particular ringer, but SWMBO has been known to complain that each one of my (way too many) hobbies and interests should have one. And that I should attend.

The pun is funnier in business kick off meetings... Roomful of quasi-strangers hunkering down to storm out the next six or nine months, and at introduction time, with the straightest face, I go "Hello, my name is Marcos and I'm an engineer". If nothing else a quick survey of the faces tells me who I want on my team.

Incidentally, that looks like a 52 ring you are holding in that pic (if that's you in your avatar)

Here's me, smoking an amazingly realistic imitation of a Cuban Bolivar Belicoso Fino (2000) with a friend a couple of years back. I'm the one without the mustache.

    Zib,

You should hear the unabridged version!

I dwell smack in the middle, in Woodbridge. At least for now.

That's me, alright. Smoking an amazingly realistic imitation of a Habana Cohiba Esplendido! Incidentally, that picture was taken out on the deck during halftime of Super Bowl XLI, which was an amazingly realistic imitation of a Giants win! The poop-eating grin you see in the picture was one mirrored by all the Giants fans at the Super Bowl party that night at halftime. There were several Pats fans there too, but they didn't see it coming. The moustache is history. Anyway, I don't mean to take up this thread with what should be a PM. Let's light a stogie someday!

Welcome, Marcus. You will enjoy yourself once you get one of those razors sharpened up by a good honemeister. If you click on the classifieds then "Member Services" you'll find a listing of reputable honemeisters on this board. Of course, there are also some who place a link to their services in their signature.

So, whatever happened to that 7-day set your Grandpappy used to have? Sorry, but it's eating me up inside...

Well... truth is it's been eating me inside too, for the last quarter century. Shortly after I moved to the US the old man passed away. There were four things of his I wanted; the razors, his vintage Walther PPK, his Intombi custom elephant rifle and his set of peen ball hammers. Alas, it was not to be.

I remember the scales, ivory or french ivory, and the etching on the spike blade "Solingen". The one I used on him had black scales, probably a 5/8 blade with round point that he kept on a leather sleeve.

Please, oh PLEASE, tell me you got at least one of those!!

Still, equipment notwithstanding, the experiences are priceless. Glad to have you.

Sadly, no. And that was a pimp set of peen ball hammers.

I did get to fire the Intombi when I was 15, though.
