    Default Howdy from NorCal

Just joined up here. I live in Northern California up on the coast north of SF. I'm an artist/craftsman bowyer who crafts traditional archery tackle.

I'm looking to outfit myself with a good straight razor kit and figured it would be wise to learn from the experienced gents rather than just winging it without any edumacation on the subject before I chuck my disposable razors.

Good thinking. Kind of depends on how much money you have to spend. You can get good quality straights that are vintage for pretty cheap. If you are looking to buy new you can't go wrong with anything by Dovo. Strops are best to buy new however. Also, I wouldn't toss those disposable razors just yet. There is a bit of a learning curve and you will be happy to have them as you are learning most likely...
