    Thanks for the suggestion, joshb1000! I used some MAAS and that rubbed the rust and most of the tarnish right off. I then rinsed it off really well, oiled it, and I'll shave with it tomorrow. As a bonus it's also a little shinier than before, too!

    Looking at where the rust was I wonder if there was some moisture left in the scales. I would take some toilette paper folded up and dry between the scales as well before storing.
