Hello
Hey everyone, Name is Miles and i'm from Denton TX. I'm 28 years old and I have no clue how i got this interest in straight razors, but after several weeks of lurking on here i decided to sign up. To be honest i really know nothing about them, but look forward to learning and can't wait to give it a try. Other interest include motorcycles, bass fishing, hunting, and bourbon. I bought three straight razors a few days ago and look forward to what information i can find on them. Thanks everyone!

Welcome aboard! Your best bet would be to check out the Wikis and beginner's guides here on SRP. In addition to your straights, you'll need at minimum a leather/canvas(linen) strop, brush (badger's hair preferred), cream or soap, and aftershave. One thing to keep in mind about SR shaving is that it has quite the learning curve and not to get discouraged. This is not a activity for those desiring instant gratification.
BTW, I'm a bourbon fan as well. Maker's and Wild Turkey top my list when I'm not enjoying a well crafted martini

Makers is what i drink on the regular. I just picked up a bottle of makers 46 and eagle rare. I have to say i'm more fond of the eagle rare.

Wellcome!
Here you´ll find everything what you need to know about the straight razors
I had also a bike many years ago, Shadow 600 then Hornet 900. But I had to sell it because it did not fit with the home loan...

Pre Shave
I see allot of beginners posts looking for info here. Let's start with the first step.
PRE SHAVE ROUTINE.
I have found that without a good pre shave routine you will never get a great shave.
Before anything, fill sink with hot water, drop in brush and face towel
Apply pre shave cream, or lotion of some sort to help soften beard.
At this point I like to shower, either way next step, apply hot towel and hold against face for a couple of minutes, repeat process 2 more times.
Lather up and enjoy.
