    Talking hello

my name is william myers. i live in tyrone pa. i was recommended to check this forum out in blade forums. ive been making blades since 07 but about 2 years ago i finallaly got sick of cartridge prices and inadequate shaves. i talked to my barber about a s.r. and checked out the grooming sub-forum on blade forums. i was pretty happy when i found out about this place. i decided that when i quit the cartridges i was going all the way to s.r. and not the de's i used them as a kid and wasnt that impressed. thats why i went to the cartridges. but once i found out about the shavettee from dovo that i could use to practice shaving untill i get the nessasary equipment and knowledge. i have picked up some nice used dovos and intend to have them professionaly honed and stropped the first time and i have 2 others that arent quite as pretty but are quite satisfactory that im gonna use to learn to hone and strop on first. well i guess thats me and about where im at. sorr if its long winded.

Welcome to SRP, William. This is a great place with very knowledgeable and helpful members. I recommend you review our wiki, these were very helpful for me when I started: Straight Razor Place Wiki:Books/Beginners Guide - Straight Razor Place Wiki and First straight razor shave - Straight Razor Place Wiki

Welcome! You will find plenty of resources for honing in the classifieds on this site under member services. I recommend the wiki tab on this site for info. Also you can post questions in any of the forums get a pretty quick response. I have found the guys here to be an invaluable resource. Good luck with that first shave, they can be challenging. Take your time and take it slow.

    Shave On!

Welcome to the herd! I'm originally from Pennsylvania and I've been through Tyrone many times as a youngster. I very distinctly remember the paper factory there. This is the best forum ever. Seriously.
