Thanked: 3Greetings from Chicago
Hello everyone. I stumbled into SR shaving while I was doing a search for the cheapest razor refills for my Mach 3 razor. I don't know what I did but basically it was one of those searches gone wild on my computer. Next thing I know I'm on this site absolutely amazed with the wealth of information and great people.
After a few weeks of shopping around I purchased a Dovo Bismark 6/8 razor from SRD along with the other essentials. I completed my first shave tonight with less than desired results (which I'll post about on a different thread). I know I have a ton of learning to do and I'm excited to start.
Nice to meet everyone.

Greetings from Chicago
Hello, Barko78:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. As you notice, everyone advises patience. Yes, take your time with the straight razor. The rewards are in the distant, but they are there.
Regards,
Obie

Welcome aboard! Things WILL get better. It's almost unheard of to have desirable results on the first SR shave. For me, it was about two weeks before things began to fall into place. I've been at this about three months and am just starting to get some really good shaves.
Welcome to your new obsession!

Welcome to SRP! I had a similar experience myself...searching for a solution to the continual replacement of razor cartridges which was required to hold off ingrown hair problems, I ran across SRP. So glad I did.
And welcome from another Chicagoan. I'm not there anymore, but all my family is, and I love that town. It has its problems like any other city, but I think it's one of the greatest towns in the world.
