Hello From North Carolina!
Hey Guys,
I've been lurking for a few days and finally joined! I'm a recent convert to DE shaving and haven't yet tried a straight but it seems I'm on my way! I've already jumped in on the deep end: bought a Merkur 23C, couple of brushes usual suspect soaps and creams, got lucky and won a PIF from B&B last week for a Feather razor and accessories, AND just today won my 1st SR auction on eBay for a nice Wilbert "Damascus"! All this in a 2 week period! I'm sure most of you have similar stories...
The wife is already giving me greif for going full-bore into yet another hobby but I think this will be one of my favorites! I'm looking forward to learning from everyone and I hope to be able to contribute as well.
A little background on me: I'm a "Regular Joe"; family (beautiful wife, 13 year old daughter and 21 month old son), work 5 days a week at my "real job" and squeeze in my side business, (Moonshine Leatherworks - I do custom, bespoke leatherwork consisting primarily of watch straps, belts and small cases/wallets), when time allows. I'm an avid motorcyclist (5 bikes!), gun & knife nut, watch lover and generally appreciate all things that are made well.

Wow! Cool. Strop making in the future perhaps.
What bikes do you own. I am thinking of getting a Star Raider this winter.
Oh, and welcome! (I'm low on my "welcome" post qouta)

Thanks for the welcome, AFD! And yes, strops are in the works currently! I have some fantastic latigo that should make a nice strop with a felt backer.
As far as bikes here is the list, and sorry for the goof; I only have 4 bikes currently as I have recently sold 2:
1974 Yamaha TY250 Trials Bike (Used for vintage trials events and general goofing around in the back yard.)
1982 Honda CR480R Motocross Bike (Ass-chewer intended to be used for vintage cross-country if I ever restore it.)
1997 Harley Davidson Springer Softail (Bought this one new and have vowed to keep it forever. Probably because I have WAY too much invested in it!)
2006 KTM 950 Adventure (Absolutely THE BEST BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED! This one will do everything I want it to do and then some. Probably not your style since you are eyeing the Star but it's as accommodating as any motorcycle can be!)
