Hello, and it's about time!
Howdy! I've been lurking about for some time. Like so many others I got tired of the cartridge fiasco (cost, waste, quality issues galore!) and decided back in August '10 to give straights a shot. Picked up a Dovo Prima Klang, strop and a bunch of other goodies from SRD.
Excited to get started, I ran into a bit of an obstacle .... me! I tried to shave before going to work and it just wasn't happening for me. It was taking waaaay longer than I had expected. I didn't want to give up, but knew I couldn't keep doing what i was doing, so I picked up a DE.....and then I fell in love. I've been wet shaving since and I gotta say that shaving is truly the highlight of my day. I have some time away from work coming up soon, so I thought I would dedicate a bit to practicing my skills with the straight. Hopefully I start to get the hang of it because......well, I'm not exactly sure WHY, but I just wanna.
Anyway, thank you all for the great forums, advice, and encouragement that you offer. I look forward to continuing my education here on SRP. Cheers!

Thanked: 2209It is good to hear that your going to give it another go. Shaving with a straight razor takes a bit of time to learn but once your competent you can shave in 5-15 minutes. If your evenings allow it try shaving then.

Welcome to SRP. Maybe this may help:
