    Default Hello from Indiana!

    Hello Everyone,

    I've been DE shaving for a number of years now and I decided to finally take the plunge into the world of straight razor shaving. I have a very thick beard and the Merkur HD just wasn't getting the job done, even with Feather razors. I bought a Merkur slant and things improved dramatically, but I realized eventually my quest for better and better shaves would lead to the full on straight razor. I came across Straight Razor Place and after reading the beginner's FAQ section I bought a couple of Dovo Best Quality 6/8 razors, an Illinois #827 strop, and Lynn's DVD. I look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone. Thanks again!

    Welcome to SRP. My beard comes in very thick as well and for me the key is my prep and keeping the razor with a wicked edge.
