    Default Greetings from Southern Orygun

Yup, we actually DO pronounce it that way, not Ory- gone. That's because it's still here, and hasn't 'gone' anyplace!

I've been using a straight for off and on for about 14 years, but not regularly. I'm still a newby at it. I prefer the shave, but being an over the road trucker, finding a decent place to accomplish a shave is tough. I reserve it for my times at home where I can have a somewhat more controlled atmosphere. Been thinking about it though!!

I still have a time not macerating my chin, and I'm still trying to educate my stupid (left) hand to use the razor.

My wife gave me her uncle's razor 14 or so years ago, and as my Grandpa had been a barber, I have his strop. I promptly scared the crap outta myself, and decided I needed some learning. A friend was a haircutter and had been to barbering school, and she gave me her barber school book. I got my first decent shave after reading it.
Then, for my birthday about 6 years ago, my wife gave me a nice Solengen 3-pin razor.

I don't get too fancy about soaps and such. I use Williams cake and a nice badger brush in an old Burma-Shave mug. I retired Grandpa's strop and bought a new one to replace it, an Illinois Russian leather with canvas. And there's just something about Bay Rum and Old Spice that I like. I still have Grandpa's stones, but they are so wore, I'm going to have to replace them with a new hone.

I've lurked here off and on for a spell, and finally decided to join up. I look forward to being a part of the forum.

Randy n Bridget (my venerable Corgi co-pilot)

Welcome from your northern neighbor. This is a great place as you have discovered. One important question, pembroke or cardigan? My Max is a pembroke.

    Default Cardigan

Bridget is a Cardigan. I lost my Pem, Isabelle, last year to hemolytic anemia. Our other Pem, Cricket, followed a few short months later to liver cancer.
Isabelle (IzzyB) had been with me for 6 years on the truck, my constant companion. I was devastated when she passed. I somehow found myself on a Corgi rescue website while in GA in between loads and spotted Bridget. She was in a rescue in Dallas, TX. The lady who ran Riff's Friends contacted me and asked if I could come adopt Bridget. Within 10 minutes I was offered a load to the Dallas area. Fate, I guess.
Bridget is but two years old this coming June. She's been an absolute dream pup. I have noticed she isn't as 'snarky' as the Pems, but is a heck of a watch dog. Out and about she is very friendly, but in the truck she's very protective. The little rodent has really wormed her way into my heart.
Here's the Dogster link to IzzyB's page, from there you can see Bridget as well.

IzzyB and I actually spent some time in Yakima. We've picked up many times at the Yakima Training Center, usually hauling Humvees or Strykers.

Very cool dogs. Thanks for sharing.
I know this isn't the point of your thread, but here's 2 of mine. Max is being the center of attention (you understand) and Otis is in the back. I recently rescued Trillian in the second pic.

Next time your through here with a little time give me some warning. We can talk razors and corgis can play.

    Default PDX Meet & Greet

I had the pleasure of meeting with [B]lostsheep[B] this Sunday as he was in town waiting to make a delivery on Monday to Vancouver, WA. Great guy!! A real gentleman that I'm sure will be an asset to this forum. We had breakfast at the Jubitz and went out for some beers at the Mcmenamins Broadway. Good day with good company. Hopefully we'll be able to add him to the roster for the Spokane meet

Awesome. I've said it before, but I want to fill Sushi.com with SRPers. I was curious if the two of you were going to get together, glad you had a good time.

This reminds me that I need to make a trip to see Michael.
