Default Found my Grandfather's straight razor

    Hi, everyone!

I have been interested in old-fashioned shaving for some time. About a month ago I found my Dad's safety razors and his Dad's straight razor. The safety razors work well, and it has been great to shave with them.

The straight razor has some rust spots and an approximately 1/8" nick in the blade. I'll try to remove the rust at some point, but otherwise I will probably leave it as is.

Meanwhile, I purchased used 4/8 and 5/8 straights to learn with. It seems like a straight razor is a lot of steel to manage, but I'm figuring it out.

Thanks for making available all the great info here!

Welcome to SRP, and grats on your heirlooms. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction. Don't be afraid to ask questions whey they arise. Meanwhile, have fun.
