    Default Hello from Central Florida

Just wanted to say hi! I've never used a straight razor, but I have been interested for quite some time now. I have no equipment. I plan on getting a used/vintage razor. No clue about what kind of strop to get. Im not wanting to spend to much money incase I dont like it. Anyways, Im here for all the advice I can muster.

Welcome, I started last December and went with Whipped Dog Straight Razor Sales you won't spend a lot of money and while the razors aren't the prettiest things on the market they will do the job. His strop is entry level all the way, but very good to practice on. You won't want to nick up a nice expensive strop while you're learning. Once you have gotten a little more experience, the classifieds here are a great resource for razors. They almost always come shave ready. Also check out the wiki section here on SRP. I usually grab a coffee or whatever your choice of beverage and settle in for a while and search the wiki section for tips and advice. Good luck!

    Thumbs up Welcome!

Glad you have joined us. You will find great information here on SRP.

I encourage you to read the Wikis on straight razor shaving. It will answer a lot of questions. It also lists what you need to get started. I started four months ago and now love shaving with a straight razor. Hope you find it just as rewarding as I do.

Thanks. I saw someone else mention his site. He has a razor, hone and strop for $70. The razor is sight unseen. What do you think?

Ya I've read quite a bit before I decided to join this forum. For now I have no question, atleast until I try to butcher my face.

Welcome to our world David! Whippeddog is probably the best place to start, as advised by chipvj. You will get great deals and good recommendations from him.

May your shaves all be enjoyable!
