Welcome aboard. I think you'll find most here (me excluded) to be knowledgeable, generous with their knowledge and friendly to boot.

On the department of unasked for advise, I'd say that you'd be well served sending that razor out to be professionally honed. Look under member services and you'll find several who provide this service for a very reasonable price. Wade & Butchers are very good razors, and unless it has issues it will serve you well for a long time.

We absolutely love pictures, and as a rule reward them lavishly with comments and suggestions (hint), and I'm sure a lot of the guys would like to see your razor.

    Best of luck!

    Thumbs up Welcome!

I, too, have a Wade and Butcher and it is one of the smoothest and most comfortable shavers in my collection. I second the suggestion to have it professionally honed before you start. I had a disastrous start using a Red Imp 132 that was dull and had a sharp spike. The dull razor left me with razor burn and the spike left me with a deep two-inch vertical cut in front of each of my ears. This could have been avoided if I had waited. Lynn Abrams honed my Red Imp and now it is a superb shaver.

Take it slow and easy. I highly recommend Lynn's DVD "The World of Straight Razor Shaving" and Mantic's uTube videos. They are really helpful.

Good luck on your journey. After four months, I can pretty well control the quality of my shaves with a straight razor. I now love shaving and use straights 90% of the time.
