Hello from Wheat Ridge, CO
Hi all,
I've been attempting to get into straight razor shaving for a while (say 30+ years since my first interest). I can honestly say, I have never had a straight razor shave yet. After going through the learning curve about cheap crap razor's, I ended up eventually finding SRD. After digesting every peice of information I could on the subject, including that the Boker USA, Inc. headquarters are right here in Lakewood, CO. (I didn't know that until today, hehehe), I concluded that in order to stop wasting money on junk and should by a Boker from SRD, which I did last night.
I've already got all the goodies to go with the razor's as I have been building up the proper quality parts in order to give myself the best opportunity for a good experience. I'm sure tired of using the grocery store junk wife brings home for me..
A note on myself, Truck driver currently, happy to be employed in any field, but I'm an IT Info. Systems Engineer by trade, but was caught up in the IT bust of 04-05 here in Colo. and was laid off from Qwest Comm. after 23 1/2 years. Just before that Nacchio robbed us of all our retirement accounts by forcing all employees to only invest in Qwest, than he trashed the stock and laid off most of the people. So, being employed doing anything is a blessing around here. I'm one of the more fortunate! But, I'm not here to talk about that crud. Needless to say, I'm getting older and I always wanted to learn to shave with a strait razor. Now's the time, this is the place and Lynn had the tool.
Now I just have to wait till it arrives and do what Lynn wrote for first timers, take it slow and learn the proper way to get a great shave.
Glad to be amoungst you all!!! Look forward to learning from ya!!
Best to ya all!-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

IT encourages logical thinking and careful problem analysis. You should do fine when the razor arrives.<g> Keep in touch here -- sometimes the reality doesn't quite match up with the theory!<g>

Welcome fellow Coloradoan!
If memory serves me correctly the Boker location here is just the US hub for returns and sales team. No tours.
As you mentioned just take it slow and practice technique. You are bound to enjoy this method of shaving in no time at all. You should also know we are having a CO meet in July. A great place to meet people that share the same enjoyment for shaving, see different razors, hones, strops, good food and excellent company.
