I have been reset and now I hope I can post, and introduce myself. I have been searching
like everyone else for the perfect shave. I am 55 yrs old, was made to shave when I was 14
in Military School in Va. Now I have a cast iron beard, daily shaver for years with all types of Gillette DE razors. I even used a German Mercur travel for years. It was up until about the past year I struggled with self teaching myself with a Boker straight that I was just about to give up on straights altogether that I stumbled upon SRD and sent the thing to Lynn for honing. Now I knowthat straight razor shaving is for me. I did not know that I , yes I can now get a Barbershop shave now at home. This site is very valuable for those that straight razor shave!

Nice to have you join us. I started using a straight razor four months ago and just turned 68 this month. It would be interesting to see the age demographics of the straight razor members. There is a post asking at what age you began using a straight razor.

I agree that SRP is a fantastic site. Not only is there outstanding information but the members of SRP are cordial and always willing to help other members.

Age is like wine, we are to suppose to learn something new everyday and get better with time! I hope. SRP is a nice learning place to shave
like a pro.

Welcome to SRP...Yes, you already know what some of us, like me, could only discover by stumbling upon this website--that there is real pleasure involved with straight razor shaving.

Glad to hear that your experience has been positive. I started straight shaving at age 62 and only wish I had done so much earlier. As many members have said, an unpleasant task has now become a pleasurable daily experience.
