Hi guys im a new member from down under, ive been reading the forums for a while and finally decided to join.Love the straight razors, started shaving with one ,a dovo 6 years ago while traveling aus to save on buying razor blades worked a treat.Sadly i lost the Dovo while working in a remote community in the gulf country,it got shampoo on the blade and the stuff eched into the steel turned it black and wrecked the edge.Expensive mistake to make,so now i have just brought two old straights one bengall and a kropp for less than half the price of the dovo and am loving them. They have a house to live in now so there will be no more accedents.I think this may be the start of an addiction.I am already looking at buying another bengall a griffon and a T,R Cadman and sons that has another mark other than bengall.Ok thanks and i look forward to joining in the community.

Welcome aboard and good luck with what looks like early stages of RAD.

Welcome to SRP but I'm trying to work out how/why you got shampoo on your blade. I hope you weren't shaving in the shower , that can lead to sudden amputations if you drop the razor

Well i had the shampoo and the razor in the same bag and something must have been thrown/dumped on top of it when loaded on the plane. So it was about a week befor i got around to having a shave and found the split shampoo bottle and damage to the blade very sad .I do still have it as a reminder of what not to do.
