Thanked: 2Just Getting to My Intro
Hi all..I've been lurking here off and on for about three years..I do most of my shaving in Southern California..I've been wet shaving all my shaving life..I've been wet shaving properly about four years..Three years ago I bought a couple of Wapi's, three or four rheab specials, and stalled there..A few weeks ago I pulled the trigger on a beautiful nos German razor..My AD was peaking at the moment..Before seller #1 could get my name and address on the package I saw a vintage French razor that I've wondered about for a while..I bought that one too..So now I have two shave ready straights headed for my mail box..I Bought Lynn's CD and a strop..I had planned to wait for both razors to arrive before shaving..But one may be hung up in customs..
Tonight I got my kit together prepped my beard well and started trying to straight shave..The results were acceptable by my standards..There were no cuts, no drips, and just a few errors..Moving that sharp steel around the face was challenging..Since it was going well I shaved the entire face..It was close enough to call it quits after two passes and touch ups..Under the chin and along the jaw bone were much smother than expected..I do no not have the ability to change hands so I'll focus on technique instead..There's lots to learn before you can call me a straight shaver..For now I'll settle for "straight learning...."
Best regards,

Welcome to SRP, Julian!
Congratulations on your first straight razor shave - and one without any nicks or cuts at that. Job well done!
You may have lots to learn, but you will be on steady feet once you watch Lynn's CD, and this place is full of people that will happily answer any questions that may arise.
Do let us hear how it goes, and when those razors arrive don't forget that we do love razorpics, nudge nudge
