    Default Hello from Durham, NC

Since I just tried using a straight razor for the first time, I thought it would be good to register here and introduce myself. I have been wetshaving w/ a new DE safety razor for a few years.

Recently I went to a flea market with my wife & some friends; so I started looking for a historic safety razor. Found a straight razor instead. It is a handmade C-Mon Blackie. I posted a few pictures on another site and asked if anyone local would hone it for me. I was contacted by someone who is a member here and said he would ask another member of this site who also was local to look at it. He honed it and applied few other restoration details.

I picked it up yesterday and used it last night; just a couple of WTG passes in areas easily accessible. I found it hard to actually see what I was doing trying to do (angle and such) in other areas; so I finished up with my DE. I wanted to start slow and get a feel for things before pushing it further. So thank you to this site and its members for the knowledge and support for a straight shaving newbie.
