    Default Hello from holland

    Hello SRP people,

newcomer in open razor shaving. Yesterday i've ordered a straight razor on the Internet.
She's coming on Tuesday. Just a cheap one to see how i like it. When i like it i'm going to buy
a more expensive one. Can't wait to get started.... Excuse me for my poor english. But google
translate is not the best teacher. Now i'm off reading. That's the first step in learning to shave

    Greeting Phobetor

Hey Phobetor, welcome! it's a great place here and lots of info

Can i ask about the razor you ordered though? is it a disposable blade straight or a cheap "ebay special"? if it's the former please don't use it, please check out the following:

It's a straight disposable razer from dove. If I like it, I'll order one whitout disposable razors. I've already looked through the wiki. It's amazing how much info there is about straight shaving. Thanx

Could anyone thell me why a cheap one is bad? If you insert a good quality blade would i not mean you can get a good result? Is it because there of balance or wobbly or made of a bad quality (the razor it self) and what if it is the other way around. Good raizor cheap blade?

poor quality blades refer more to cheap straights rather than shavettes like you have, don't worry about it
