    Default New guy

New guy from NY, over the past month I started out with a small shave set from AoS, shortly after which I purchased a DE from them, and then last week I purchased a DoVo shavette from them to give my hand at the straight razor. After 3 shaves I love it, I was able to do the majority of my face WTG but left the ATG and touchups to my Mach 3. Anyway, just saying hello.

Welcome aboard and congratulations. Glad to hear that you've had a good go-around with the shavette, they're usually a little rough but sounds like your doing just fine. Keep us posted on your progress.

    Good Luck,

When you do graduate from the shavette to a straight your face will thank you. A properly honed razor will shave much smoother than what you are using currently. When you are ready & feel like a straight, look at the classified's for a "shave ready" straight. Best of luck & we are glad to have you. You might take some time and learn a bit from the wiki & Lynn's video (gotta buy that one though...but it's worth every penny).

Thanks guys. I actually just ordered a dovo 5/8 from SRD yesterday before I left for work, can't wait to give it a try.

    Welcome.
You made a wise choice for your first proper straight razor.
With a shavette you don't have to worry about it when you send your razor off for honing, but I would be surprised if you were happy with the shavette after the Dovo. You may find yourself searching the classifieds in the next couple of months.
