Thank you. I bought myself a cheap Krieger as a starter razor. I know it's not the best quality razor brand, but it's something to start with. Being the more I read up on honing, I decided this would be perfect to start practicing on. I plan on the more experienced I get with honing and shaving, I'll buy better quality razors. 1 instant plus..the woman's mad at me for going to straight razor which means she can't steal my razors and dull the bull out of them

and once I get the experience in on this razor, take a wild guess what she's gonna get for a birthday present while I happen to get me a more quality razor?

I can not vouch for the quality of Krieger, have not heard much good. But my first razor and the rest of the kit was an off brand. I ruined it....upgraded to a dovo. then learned to fix it....When I started shaving I made every new guy mistake in the book. Learned the hard way and then joined here. Everything got a lot better after getting the great advice and help from the other members. Welcome aboard. Maybe one day I will tell that horrible tale.

Welcome to SRP Rich. I hope you enjoy the ride on the learning curve.
If I was going to give you any advice it would be to get a razor from one of the vendors in the classifieds and then you have a known starting point.
Don't try to hone it or even strop it when you get it - just shave with it and feel what it's like.
I am not familiar with the Kreigers, however I have a GD and I have honed it up to shave readiness and it was only after I got a shave ready razor from johnmrson that I knew what I had to aim for.
Most of the vendors here will make sure you get a shave ready razor and one that suits your experience level, particularly if you let them know you are a beginner.
This is the best place for advice so ask plenty of questions, after studying the posts and the WIKI, if you can't find what you are looking for there.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
Glad to have you with us.
    Cheers,
    Geoff
Hang on and enjoy the ride...
