Cool Brand new to Straight Edges

Hey all. I'm from New Jersey and want to experience the art of shaving with a straight razor. I plan on purchasing all the needed equipment as soon as I can find the right set for me. After reading the beginners section of this wiki, I'm inclined to get a Castle Forbes, 6/8, half-hollow razor. I plan to keep it in great shape and would like to spend about $75-$100 for it. Also, I'll need a strop and brush that I plan on getting soon also. I'd prefer to buy new. If anyone knows of a reputable source that will provide an actual "shave ready" razor for a modest price, please let me know. I could use all the advise offered. Thanks for your time and help. Now, to start reading threads

    FacialDirt,

Welcome!! This site has tons of information for you to peruse. Find everything you need in the Wiki's and be sure and ASK Questions!! Tons of folks here will help out any way they can! We are definately into spreading the art.

You can always check out the classifieds for good razors, shave ready as well. From the members here of course! And no one hones a razor like Lynn. I bought my first razor from him.

Good luck mate!!! Let us know what you decided to get..

Hey, thank you both for your input and advice. It is appreciated.
    -FyrFyter43, I'm in Mercer County.
-mjhammer, I ended up purchasing a razor from "hi_bud_gl" from our classified section. He was a very helpful and highly recommended individual. It is the Original Athlete, 6/8, 1/2 Hollow. Happened to be just the type I was looking for based on the Wiki section. I got the "El Toro" strop and a tweezerman badger brush set from RupRazor, com.

Thanks, again, to you both and anyone else who offers advice to others in need. I'll let you guys know how I make out with my first shave eventually.
