Thread: Hello from Virginia

Hello. My name is Jerry and I live in Virginia. I have been shaving for many, many years, but I have become interested in learning the art of the straight razor. Like most, I started with the old safety razors - loading one blade at a time. I moved to electric during my college years because of convenience, but I always enjoyed lathering up and scraping the skin clean. I guess it's a natural progression to move back to the single blades in pursuit of a good shave. I found SRP during my straight razor research and it looks to be a great resource. I look forward to learning this old artform.

In addition to that, check out the frontpage of SRP. Lots of nice articles designed to help new guys get started in a good manor.
The various subforums has loads of great stickies on various topics. Great reading IMO.

Welcome aboard. As has been said, the Wiki is your friend. Also, Gssixgun does a monthly tips article which is quite handy.
There's also a few members in NoVa so they may have some good local sources for stuff as well.

Thanks for the welcomes. My new Norton stones came in today, so it's time to sharpen some blades; unfortunately, the wife wants the kitchen knives done first.
