    Default Greetings from Canada!

    Hey everyone! Just recently I got married and for the pre-wedding-guys-bonding-sesh we got straight razor shaves. IT WAS AMAZING. I'm now hooked and I'm slowly buying everything I need for wet shaving. I have a straight razor that I got from an antique store and my next purchase is a 4000/8000 wet stone to get it one step closer to a shave!! Can't wait to explore the site.

    Welcome. You came to the right place to get started. Make sure your blade is shave ready and you've got a good strop...and you'll be ahead of the game!

    Welcome. My advice would be to send out your razor to some who knows how to sharpen it. There are plenty of guys here that could help you. I would then get a second razor to practice with. This way you will have an idea of how a shave ready razor feels. Just my thoughts.

    +1 to all previous posts. I suggest the Norton 4K/8K starter kit from Amazon then a 12K finishing/polishing stone.
    A strop is paramount! Start with a cheap strop as you wil indefinately nick it up. (nicks can be lightly rubbed with 600grit sandpaper and rubbed by hand to finish the fix process) The Filly is a goid sarting strop tht will do everything you will need it to.
