Hello from Daytona Beach
I'm totally new the the straight razor shaving world. I ordered my first starter Dovo kit the other day and expect it to arrive tomorrow (5/8 full hollow, high carbon). I'm excited, and praying I don't butcher myself =P I decided to try a straight razor because I was tired of the cost of Mach 3 blades, irritation, and I have a general love knives and perfection. So, I have a feeling I just found another source of joy in my life.
I registered here because I've been on these forums about every day this learning and realized I share a lot of common interests (tobacco, beer, guns, music).

Welcome aboard! Post some pic's of your kit when it comes in. Does your razor have the factory edge on it or has been honed by someone? Lots of info on here to get you going in the right direction. All you have to do is ask. Good luck with your first shave.

Thanked: 443Welcome, Schmidty! You've got a great vendor in Florida, The Superior Shave in Jacksonville, and it seems we've got lots of active members in Florida too. Put a pin in the Google map (it's in the Community drop-down) and see who's near you. Good luck with your new gear. Read up and go slow as you start.
Best wishes to you."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanks for the welcome.
I asked for them to hone it (Nashville Knife Shop), so hopefully they do a descent job. Otherwise it'll have to wait because I won't be able to afford a hone for a few weeks =P
