Thanked: 20Greetings from the 'Burbs
Hello from the Chicago Suburbs-
I have (rightly or wrongly) been shaving with a Dovo Shavette for the past two months. I have progressed to the point of being almost nick free and am ready to step it up to the real thing. I have been lurking on this sight during this time and am now eager to participate and am looking forward to being a part of a wonderful, helpful community. I have a number of questions (of course!) that I will be posting, so thanks in advance for all of the valuable advice.
Regards, Gags

Welcome to SRP!
Which burbs are you from? My family's in the far northern suburbs, though I've got some down in the city itself. Best city on earth...but then, I no longer live there!
Lots of guys in your area, and there are get togethers from time to time. A lot of friendly folks.
If you've figured out the shavette then you've already made some strides in the right direction; and many guys here have taken that route. Many have also said that after figuring out the shavette, the "real thing" was easier than they'd expected, and shaved better at that!
Best of luck,
Jim

Welcome to SRP Joegags!
Sounds like you did better than the Magic Shaver shavette I started with.
Great you are stepping up, there's lots of good razors available and of course ones to avoid. Have you checked out the forum's straight razor shaving Wiki? Load of valuable information.
So post your questions and you are in good company with everyone always willing to help out.
Any idea as to what straight razor you have in mind?
Again, welcome!
