I guess it is about time I said hello. I'm not even sure at this point how long I have been lurking here, and I have gained such valuable advice and knowledge. The first rattle out of the bucket, I purchased a Marble's razor, thinking that Marbles was such a well known name. I was disgusted to find out it was a piece of junk made in Pakistan. My second blade which I consider my primary razor is a Hart Steel. I cannot describe in words the excitement, fear, and trepidation I had regarding my first shave. I went and bought a styptic pencil, and located a brush. I spent two weeks researching shaving soaps and cremes, and a month browsing garage sales to find the perfect mug, then finally brewed my first batch of shaving soap. I survived my first shave unscathed, and I was hooked! I now have a razor marked only, "Sheffield English Steel," and another marked "Piedmont." I found both at different antique malls, and paid twenty and fifteen dollars for them respectively. Last week I received a package in the mail, and enclosed was exactly the type of cardboard I have been searching for, and I have also found a piece of leather to make my strop with. I am very excited to be here.
