    Default Hello from Slovenia

    Hi!

I have been shaving with a DE razor for the past 2 years and i have been very satisfied with the results so far. The only thing i don't like is to still be dependent of the supply of the razorblades in the stores. I need something completely independent, that will last me almost a lifetime and is enjoyable to use. I think straight razors are simply amazing. Not only that they have a rich history, they are a great example of superb craftsmanship and human ingenuity. Also they look cool and i like the fact, that not everybody can use them since they require a skillful hand. There forth i have decided to take a plunge in to the world of straight razor shaving. I am only a beginner and i have yet to buy all the shaving gear i need that is why i came to this forum, to ask you guys for some help and advice. I recently aquired a used straight razor and i will open a new thread with pictures of it so you can tell me if it is any good or it is just garbage

Welcome Denis, you have come to the right place. I have to warn you this is very personal and if you ask opinions and 10 people reply you will likely get 10 or 12 different opinions. And they will all be good. Some of us cant even agree with ourselves. With that being said if you stick with popular brands you cant go wrong. With the internet it makes almost anything and everything available. So dont be afraid to ask a question. The coolest thing I have found with wet shaving is the tremendous variety. Its not just foam or gel. Experiment, see what you like, its a wonderful endeavor.
