Thanked: 2New from Denver, CO
Hey everybody. I'm just joining this forum from Denver. I picked up a started set from The Art of Shaving. It's just the pre shave, brush, cream and after shave. Just used it for the first time. Think I'm hooked. Normally if I shave within 2 days my face and head are all red and razor burned. I don't have any razor burn or anything. It's awesome. Once I've tried this stuff a few more times I'm hoping to pick up a straight and start using that.
This is a great forum and I hope I can absorb all the great knowledge that's here.

Welcome to SRP. If you have already read the beginner information listed on the home page, then you are well on your way. Ask questions as they arise and you'll be surprised how quickly the very helpful and knowledgable members respond. When you're ready to buy your first straight, stay away from the bay. Check the classifieds here or check out some of the vendors here for some great deals, that way you'll know you're are buying a freshly honed and shave ready razor. Hope you enjoy your new hobby/addiction.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Thanked: 2Thanks for the welcome.
Do you guys think one of the "sight unseen" deals from Categories would be a good way to see if straight razors are for me? I would hate to buy a nice razor and then find that I don't like it. I really don't think that's going to happen, but you never know. The price is also low which makes the wife a lot happier about it.

Larry at whippeddog is a great guy and will not stear you wrong. If you're not sure and don't want to spend a lot of money, then his sight unseen is a way to go. His items are low frills but are enough to get your toes wet and see if this is a hobby you will want to stick with.
