Thanked: 2G'day from Straya
How's it going y'all? Nice to notice lots of Aussies on here! (I guess last time I was part of a forum we'd only just got electricity in Australia so it was rare to find other Aussies online). Anyway, my straight razor shaving experience includes about one square inch of my face at this point in time.
I bought a $4 razor off eBay mainly to get my honing right, but poor naive little me was also hoping to get a shave out of it as well. But no, it quickly became apparent that I'd have more luck having a shave if I honed up an old gumboot or something.
So here I am to be educated, share the journey, and hopefully one day soon even be able to give a little back!
Currently searching for a new razor, armed with all the juicy knowledge I've found on here :-)
Thanks for reading!
p.s. Oh, does anyone shave their HEAD with a straight razor? Guess I'll do a search on here and find out!
p.p.s. "Straya" is pretty much how we pronounce "Australia".

Thanked: 1072G'day Wouldeneye, welcome to SRP.
I shave the head with a straight occasionally, but more often with a double edge razor.
Cheers

Welcome to SRP Wouldeneye.
There is plenty of info on this site to be had - as a suggestion, read the WIKI first, read the beginners sticky next, search for the answers you want (search box is top of page on the right), ask any questions that you can't find the answers to and then hang on and enjoy the ride.
If all else fails, I'm just up the road.
Cheers,
GeoffHang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 485Oh, don't worry, I'm sure it will come to the surface one day. Just jokes, an Australian welcome wouldn't be complete without good old fashioned good natured teasing, would it? :-)
If I was going to be allowed to buy a new razor, I'd get it here or the Revisor site. I spend a good deal of time at the Revisor site...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Welcome Im new here to . I must say that all the members are very helpful and will answer just about any question you ask so dont hesitate. SRP is the single most informative resource on Wet Shaving I have come across. My advise is browse, browse, browse.
while I have not done so yet at some point I will attempt to shave my head . I will be sure to post about it.
Good Luck!

Woody,
Not only are there a few Aussies, but dang good ones. Johnmrson goes through more blades in a week than I do in a year. Onimaru55 was called the best guy on a hone that So Yamashita has seen. You've got serious skills down there. If any opportunity presents itself to get together with other guys down there - DO IT. Its incredibly helpful. You'll have great shaves soon.
