Peach, it can be handy to have a 2nd razor so you can keep shaving while one's out being touched up. Doesn't have to be pretty or expensive - just one that takes and holds an edge.

Pink-thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm gonna get a cheaper backup, just so I can learn to hone without messing up a pretty Dovo. I'm legally blind, actually--20/400 in my good eye, so examining an edge, I really have to know what I'm looking for. How do you guys monitor your progress through the many stages of honing?
