Hi all - I am not really new here - having tried my hand at straight razor shaving two years ago. I bought a Dovo Special, and then a few vintage blades, and had a few good days, rushed along the learning curve and cut myself so bad I gave it up. I sold all the straights and strop I had, and went back to DE shaving.

It's always been in the back of my mind to give it another go, so I have ordered a 6/8 Dovo Best Quality and a red latigo strop combo from SRD, and I found a Boker King Cutter in an antique store today. I bought the Boker for $25 and now I need some honing / shaprening help here in the Vancouver BC area.

I kept the Swaty hone I bought, and I am tossing my workshop for the jar of chromium oxide I bought to see if I can set up a pasted balsa stop and then the Swaty and try and get the Boker's edge back in shape. If I can't, the Dovo should be here soon, and I can give that a go, and send the Boker out for honing.

I look forward to (re) learning the straight shave and hope to stick with it this time.
